FAQ - Roll Up Covers

How does the Gator Roll Up compare to all the others?

Just because the Gator Roll Up has the cheapest price, that doesn't mean it lacks the functionality you need to keep your bed secure. At Tonneau Covers World, we take pride in offering the best covers available, and the Gator Roll Up is no exception; providing great value in bed security and tension control.

What is the difference between the Gator SR1 and the Gator SR2?

The biggest difference is that the SR1 sits on top of the bed caps which blocks use of the stake pocket holes. Because the cover sits on top of the bed caps it's not quite as efficient as the SR2 in preventing water intrusion. The SR2 has a nice rounded bevel edge and a smoother opening than the SR1.

What is the difference between the Ionic Roll Up and the Truxedo Truxport?

The biggest difference is that the Truxport sits on top of the bed caps which blocks use of the stake pocket holes, but it is better at preventing water intrusion than the Ionic Roll Up. However, because the Ionic Roll Up mounts inside the bed rails, it only sits ½ inch above the bed caps vs the 1½ inch height of the Truxport.

What is the difference between the Access Tonnosport and the Access Vanish?

The difference between the Tonnosport and Vanish is found in the Straps. When the cover is rolled all the way up, the Tonnosport can be held in place with the single Quick Clip strap. The Vanish can be secured with two adjustable straps, one on each side. Also, the vanish will feature an element seal to keep you protected against the weather.

Will a Roll Up Cover work with my bedliner?

As long as you have access to the inside lip of the bedrail, you can install any of these Roll Up Covers. They are all compatible with Bedrug, Bedtred, Spray-On Liners and Plastic Drop-In liners that do not extend over the bed rails.

How does the velcro work? Is it safe and secure?

Velcro roll up covers are the most popular tonneau covers in the world. This is not the Velcro that barely kept your shoes on in Kindergarten! This is industrial grade Velcro that can handle the UV rays from the sun and anything else the weather throws at it. When the tailgate is locked, your bed is safe and secure. An intruder would have to break the cover to get access to your bed.

What are Tension controls? How do they work?

Tension control is used to keep your tonneau cover tight. In different seasons, the cover will stretch or contract. Changing the tension compensates for this and keeps your cover looking great and working like it's supposed to.

Will I have to drill into my truck to install the cover?

On the vast majority of covers, there is a no-drill install. There will be minor drilling on some stepside applications.
